Weather in August

August in Syria continues the peak summer season with high temperatures and virtually no rainfall across the country.

In the coastal cities of Latakia and Tartus, August experiences temperatures similar to those of July, ranging from 28°C (82.4°F) to 33°C (91.4°F). The Mediterranean Sea continues to exert a moderating influence on the climate, maintaining a higher level of humidity compared to the rest of the country. Rainfall is practically non-existent during this month, preserving the typical dry summer conditions.

Moving inland, areas including Damascus remain in the grip of the summer heat. August is characterized by daytime temperatures between 35°C (95°F) and 40°C (104°F), similar to the previous month. The nighttime temperatures provide a respite from the heat, dropping to between 20°C (68°F) and 25°C (77°F). The likelihood of rainfall during August is extremely low.

In the northeastern regions of Syria, such as Al Hasakah, the high temperatures persist. Averages range from 35°C (95°F) to 40°C (104°F) during the day, while the nights are cooler, averaging between 20°C (68°F) and 25°C (77°F). Like the rest of the country, these regions see no significant rainfall during August.

Relative to July, the climate in August remains consistently hot and dry across Syria. Transitioning into September, there is a slight decrease in temperatures, particularly in the inland and northeastern regions, signalling the beginning of the end of the intense summer heat. Nonetheless, the arid conditions continue to dominate, contributing to the challenging climate of this period.
