Weather in February

In February, The Gambia continues to experience the dry season, with little to no rainfall across the country. The average precipitation in February is virtually negligible, often measuring less than 1mm (0.04"). The Harmattan wind, a significant feature of the dry season, begins to lessen in intensity compared to January, leading to improved visibility and less dusty conditions.

Temperatures start to rise gradually in February, marking the transition towards the end of the dry season and the onset of the warmer months. Average daytime temperatures range from 26°C (78.8°F) to 28°C (82.4°F), while nighttime temperatures hover around 17°C (62.6°F). Despite the rising temperatures, the humidity remains relatively low, making the weather pleasant and conducive for outdoor activities.

The capital city, Banjul, due to its coastal location, enjoys a slightly milder climate compared to the interior regions of the country. Here, the temperatures during February are somewhat moderated by the Atlantic Ocean's breezes.

When compared to January, February sees a slight increase in temperature and a reduction in the impact of the Harmattan wind. Looking ahead to March, one can expect a continued rise in temperatures as The Gambia progresses towards the onset of the rainy season. The humidity levels also begin to climb gradually, hinting at the imminent arrival of the rains in the months to follow.
